What is the deadline for contributing to my IRA?

IRA contributions for a given tax year may be made anytime from January 1 of that year through April 15 of the following year (i.e., the deadline for filing your tax return).


SEP-IRAs have a later contribution deadline. If you get an extension for filing your tax return, the deadline is extended as well for making contributions to your SEP-IRA.
